AUTHOR
Hi. My name is Paul Fabian. I've been keeping myself busy drawing and joking around since I was old enough to hold a pencil. By some odd twist of fate, I ended up working with computers instead of making a career of my art, and the result has been a hybrid of the two.
I don't consider myself an artist but rather "one who is capable of making art". And since art is a relative term, the whole label is pretty much open to interpretation. I enjoy what I do and hoped to be able to share my psychosis through an online comic.
CHARACTERS
Most of the characters in the comic are based on an online gaming crew called the Quirky Bastards and they are truly a kick-ass bunch of hooligans. It's been my pleasure to get to know these guys and an honor to call myself one of them. Check out the QB homepage to learn more.
The rest of the characters are people I know or people that bugged me until I put them in.
GEAR
I draw all the comics by hand with pencil, then ink them with Sakura pens of varying point sizes. I scan them into Photoshop 7.0 at 300 dpi. The original panels before posting are 12.5 by 12.5 inches each. It allows me to focus on the detail that inevitably gets lost when I shrink them to web standards. The comic is actually made up of several layers flattened for sake of file size. Before compressing them, most images are 4 to 9 meg.
The site itself is optimized for resolutions starting at 800x600. I'd like to optimize if for 1024x768, but then my mom would have to scroll to see it, and dammit, I love my mom too much to make her scroll at her age! I figure if you don't have a monitor or video card capable of 800x600, you have no business using electricity, much less a computer. But then I'm an opinionated bastard.
