Bypassing the updater

As most of you probably already know, the updater is being slow as poop since Issue 7 was released. You can bypass the updater and get into the game much quicker by following the steps below. Note that if the game has been patched, skipping the updater will generate a file mismatch error.

Bypass the updater:

1. Make a shortcut to the cityofheroes.exe file.
2. Modify the Target to: "C:\City of Heroes\CityOfHeroes.exe" -project "coh" using whatever path you have CoH installed to. This works for both CoV and CoH.
3. Enjoy!

oh, bitter sweet irony!

not 15 seconds after I read this, I launched CoH. Guess what? It's patching. thank God I'm too lazy to have followed the steps detailed above:wavey:

The updater appears to be having a big poop so if you plan on playing tonight, you may want to do the whole bypass-the-updater thingy.
