The global channels are being rolled back to how they were on May 25th in order to deal with the glitches that have come up. I'm not sure how this will affect global names made or changed since then but the rollback is tentatively set for Tuesday morning (tomorrow). Worst case scenario is you may have to change or recreate your global handle. If you do, feel free to post it here for everyone's infotainment.
EDIT: Apparently the restore has already been pushed through so any changes should be there the next time you login.
