first of all, Carl Orff must be rolling in his grave right now.
second of all, i'll forgive medic for saying that was Opera. It's an Oratorio, big difference.... i'm too tired to explain right now though.
third, that was a GENIUS bit of marketing... beautifully shot... very funny.
It locked up my browser when I click on the link =/
I take it it is put to Carmina Burana? I've always been very fond of the following two verses:
Bibit hera, bibit herus,
bibit miles, bibit clerus,
bibit ille, bibit illa,
bibit servis cum ancilla,
bibit velox, bibit piger,
bibit albus, bibit niger,
bibit constans, bibit vagus,
bibit rudis, bibit magnus.
Bibit pauper et egrotus,
bibit exul et ignotus,
bibit puer, bibit canus,
bibit presul et decanus,
bibit soror, bibit frater,
bibit anus, bibit mater,
bibit ista, bibit ille,
bibunt centum, bibunt mille.

Hey, if the fat ladys' helmet fits......
Bibit hera, bibit herus........
What the hay does 'Bibit' mean?
I had to disable popup cop, but I got to view it. :) Lovely work there.
I leave Bibit to the intrepid translator, however it would be approriate to that ad....

bibit means "drinks"
that particular movement, called "In Taberna" (in the tavern... the bar for you lushes with no vocabulary), comes in the middle of the piece. Carmina Burana is about an hour long. and the In Taberna is VERY hard (having performed it myself).
the commercial uses the music from the first movement, which lisa just reminded me is called "O Fortuna" (O Fortune).
honestly this is probably one of my all time favorite pieces of music... if you've never listend to it, go buy it! but make sure it's a good recording and performance... the Deutche Grammophone edition with Deitrich Fischer Diskau is the best one.
Make sure you have the volume set to 11, although if you can go see it live (and can handle sitting in a seat for that long) I think it is worth it.
I'm feeling generous (or http://againsttheherd.com/images/cans/0pack.gif http://againsttheherd.com/images/cans/3pack.gif)
The mistress drinks, the master drinks,
the soldier drinks, the priest drinks,
the man drinks, the woman drinks,
the servant drinks with the maid,
the swift man drinks, the lazy man drinks,
the white man drinks, the black man drinks,
the settled man drinks, the wanderer drinks,
the stupid man drinks, the wise man drinks,
The poor man drinks, the sick man drinks,
the exile drinks, and the stranger,
the boy drinks, the old man drinks,
the bishop drinks, and the deacon,
the sister drinks, the brother drinks,
the old lady drinks, the mother drinks,
this man drinks, that man drinks,
a hundred drink, a thousand drink.
What can I say, those monks sure knew how to partay.

"Bibit anus" translates as "the old lady drinks"??? Damn, I must have a dirty mind! My translation would have been quite different.

bibit = drink?
i get it, just like imbibe! as in an imbibed eraser, my all time favorite kind of eraser, drunk on erasing fluid!
bump.
came across this, felt it was worthy :)
I realized my mistake, the old link no longer works. Here it is on YouTube for those who want fond beer memories (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZslkC4y2qY).
