I'd like to conduct a test regarding team balance, asking those who were at the Halo Smackdown to participate.

Here's what you do:

Take the names of everyone who played and divide them into two teams of four, trying to offer the best balance. Send me the teams list via PM.

Here are the players in alphabetical order:

Circuit
Creole Ned
F7
Paladin
Postal
Q
Samuelk
Tai

Once I get a decent sampling, I'll post the results (without author names attached)

This thread will be locked until the results are in. Ready and...go!

#4 is way off. The rest look fair. I kinda went with the following break down

Ned = Circuit
Q = F7
Postal = Sam
Paladin = Tai

obviously those ='s are approximate. :)

I broke it down as:

F7 = Circuit
Q = Creole Ned
Postal = Sam
Tai = Paladin

I agree with Tai. Having him and me on the same team is too much of a dead load for the other two to carry. There may be some of you who think I'm better than I am because I came out so strong with the SD's restarted. Keep in mind, I practiced several hours before each of the first couple matches, and everyone else was rusty. My more recent performances have been far less spectacular as practice has been overtaken by others' natural talent.

Number 6 is also unbalanced. I can't think of a single game we do Smackdowns with were pairing Circuit and F7 on the same team would be fair.

Actually, since I didn't specify (and I should have), everyone should chime in on whether they were balancing for Smackdowns in general or Halo in particular.

I was balancing for Halo, although my guidelines can be stretched to UT maybe with Pal's caveat about F7 and Circuit being on the same team.

For Halo, my balance was as follows:

Ned = F7
Postal = Sam
Q = Circuit
Tai = Pal

So, mix and match as desired.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and agree with what others have posted. :)

I think mine works for pretty much everything we play SD's... Tribes, UT2k4, or Halo. No clue about CS or HL2DM since F7 hasn't been around for those. BUt I think we're pretty much comparing natural ability to natural ability, and profiniency with a specific game is a smaller part of the equation.

I'm still waiting for an iSketch SD. :)

I realized after I sent the PM that my teams were balanced for general SD stuff, mainly UT. We're all pretty much newbies at Halo, so I'm not sure the same list would really apply completely. But it's close enough since our FPS skills tend to carry over from game to game, mostly.

I've played both CS and HL2DM thoroughly. ;)

On a side note, I finally resolved my Source-based games crashing issue so I would be totally up for either of those games.
