Smackdown 158: Robit Renegade Cop
Date: Sunday, April 2nd
Time: 7 p.m. PST, 9 p.m. Central, 10 p.m. EST
Game: UT2004
Gametype: Deathmatch
Mutator: Momentum Control
Map: DM-CBP2-Niflheim
The map for this week's Smackdown is [updated] DM-CBP2-Niflheim. The game will be a free-for-all deathmatch - no teams. We will also be using Q's Momentum Control mutator. It's small, so you can easily auto-download it from the server. Momentum Control transfers the momentum from your weapon fire to the player you hit, causing them to go a-flying. The map will be appropriately sized for such mayhem.
Make sure to have the two sets of Community Bonus Pack 2 maps installed.
Hope to see youse there - it should be wholesome nutty fun!

Fixed!
so you mean hitting people with a missle will send them flying compared to the chain gun or flak gun? sounds neat :)

If you want to test the mutator out ahead of time, you can grab it from the old QMODs page here (http://quirkybastards.net/qmods/qmods.html).
From the readme.txt:
"This mutator allows the user to control the momentum transferred
from weapon damage via a multiplier."

The map will be DM-CBP2-Niflheim, from the Community Bonus Pack 2. We have used this map with Momentum Control previously (although in teams). Enjoy!

Thanks to everyone who played. The warm-up rounds and main game were both fun. Momentum Control is a perfectly silly mutator that actually adds a smidgen of strategy to the regular DM experience.
It's always interesting how sometimes you get your groove in practise then fall apart in the real thing or vice-versa. I was lucky to be one of the latter (and a dirty pingwhore, of course).
It was a photo-finish, too. After a strong start, I faded in the second half and Q came roaring up, taking the lead for the remainder of the match. With five seconds left I managed to tie the score and with only one second remaining, I got the go-ahead point to win. (I swear I did not haxor the server.)

I had 10 kills and 3 suicides :) I make good fodder!

Postal remains the undisputed champion of getting killed, however.
oh yeah, I didn't notice that! Thanks, I feel better :)

My favorite "Ned is a ping whore" moment of this SD was when he said sarcastically over Ventrilo, "Oh good, the lightning gun" and then killed me with it less than a second later.

My favorite moment was when someone, Sam I think, jumped in front of me on one of the upper rocks. He didn't see me, and jumped down into a big round room. Apparently he did see the Redeemer I sent in after him...

I do have to learn to live longer. 10 extra deaths then everyone else is real bad.

F7 gave me a great piece of advice once...
get the rocket gun
dont stop firing till you are out of ammo.
NEVER stand still.
