Return of the Smackdown: Real Soon Now®

With summer slowly winding down and the kids excitedly preparing for a new school year, it is also time for the Smackdown to come out of its slumber. While the actual announcement will be made in a separate post, I wanted to let youse know that we will be using the following games in future Smackdowns:

Unreal Tournament 2004
Half-Life 2 Deathmatch
Counter-Strike: Source

I would be happy to add other games to the mix, as always, so feel free to suggest. Keep in mind that we typically get 6-10 people on average, so the games must be workable with those numbers.

The Smackdowns will resume soonish. Given that most people attending are Central or Eastern, I am willing to push the start time up an hour. Again, feedback is welcome. The first game upon return will be UT2004. Yes, I know some of you are tired of it/hate it/UT2004 ate my baby. Well, you certainly don't have to play. I would like to use a game where I am comfortable with the admin for the first game back and UT2004 is the best choice for me.

I would like to suggest BF2 using the 5v5 rules (no vehicles, no artillery). I know it's a long shot, but it had to be suggested :)

I think I gave/lent my UT2k4 cd's to a coworker who was still playing the demo at work, I'll retreive them and try and get all them files up to date.

My brother-in-law has apparently been playing alot of CSS - he was talking about some map where everyone is walking around on glass cubes that can be shot/destroyed. Also one, that was like breakout, so you never knew when the block you were walking on was gonna disappear. Have you guys tried these? Are they any good?

I know my CD has gone by the wayside for UT2k4.

Sorry, the posted date was in error - it was actually meant to be August 28, which is why there was no "official" thread announcing it. I am actually going to hold off again, so no SD on August 21 or 28th.
