Not much to add to this Blue's News story (http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=59215) about Serious Sam 2 getting a release date of October 14th. The two previous Sam games were some of the most fun I've had playing co-op. This will be a no-brainer purchase for me. Anyone else planning on picking up what will undoubtedly be the most over-the-top shooter this year?

Also, if our Sam was featured in a FPS, what would it be called?

Samu Elk: Poop Jar, of course, and it would be the greatest game in whole world!

Provided they keep to their most awesomest of pricing practices, I will pick it up. If they get all weird and want $49.99 I might not... but I really don't forsee that happening.

I have Second Encounter installed still and have logged myabe a full 3 hours playing that one. Great game, but if I remember it came out at the same time as something else, like Raven Shield or Splinter Cell Pandora... something that would cause an otherwise, cheap, fun game to take a back seat. :(

To be honest, I would probably still buy this game if it came out at $50, even though I doubt it will. But the amount of entertainment I got from the first two titles is far greater than the $40 I payed to get them.

EBGames.com is the only online store I found it listed on so far, and it's listed at $49.99.

For $49.99, the gameplay is going to have to be orders of magnitude better than the first game to justify the price in my eyes. The first game was kind of fun multiplayer, but just kind of, and single player was an utter waste of time. For $49.99, I want something closer to HL2 than the original Serious Sam. The 16-player co-op mode sounds interesting though. Unfortunately, there's no deathmatch, so it's viability as a Smackdown game is doubtful too.

I don't think the SS games have ever or will ever be the type of game that enough people here would enjoy for a Smackdown. It's a totally mindless game, but it's an absolute blast in co-op. Ned and I have been through SS and SS:SE a few times each in co-op and both games are fairly long. And I wouldn't trust the preorder prices yet. They have to start the game high because if they let people preorder it for less, they'd have to honor it.

Take-Two is now denying that there is a fixed release date but it's still slated for the fall. And yes, this is going to be a full-price game, not a bargoon-priced one. I assume they feel it will offer enough to justify the price.

I played both of the previous entries enough to more than justify the price but it is mindless action and you don't normally play in long stretches. This is not meant to be a gritty, immersive experience like Half-Life 2. These are games that feature screaming headless guys, giant half-human scorpions with machine guns and a weapon that is essentially a giant bowling ball. If you don't like silly and shallow, it's clearly not the game for you. :)

Hey, I've put up with you guys all these years... :birthday:

If this story (http://www.seriouszone.com/cms/news.php?action=view&newsid=1485) holds water, DM is expected to be added in a patch after shipping.

And it will probably get the same number of people playing it as Unreal 2's patched-in XMP - nearly zero. DM is just not a reason any but a few lonely souls would buy a Serious Sam game. Any FPS that focuses on the multiplayer (UT, Quake, etc.) is a much better choice if that's your thing.

I was reading a hands-on of Serious Sam 2 on IGN and they mentioned the game being $30. I went to a few retail sites and it was listed at $29.99 on them, which is pretty cool. :)
