View Full Version : Got macros?

Circuit mentioned warrior macros yesterday, which reminded me that I always wanted to ask around if anybody has any good warrior macros that I could copy. I have a macro that allows me to swap my offhand item, but it requires that the item I want to swap with is in a specific place in my bags. By extension, it means that this macro can swap two things only (in this case my offhand weapon and my shield) as it is tied to a bag spot rather than the item I want to equip. I have not figured out how to equip a specific item from anywhere in your inventory, or how to swap two one-handed weapons against a two-hander.

Also, does anyone know how to swap to +speed gear items upon summoning the mount, and reswap to your fighting gear upon dismounting?

For my healers, I use macros to shield or heal myself and immedately retarget my enemy with a click of one button. They are fairly simple:

/target Andri
/cast Flash Heal(Rank 9)
/script TargetLastEnemy()

or

/target Ravenwing
/cast Rejuvenation(Rank 6)
/script TargetLastEnemy()

or

/target Andri
/cast Powerword: Shield(Rank 10)
/script TargetLastEnemy()

A drawback is that you need to update the rank every time you learn a higher one. Otherwise, these macros have served me well enough since I created them, but if anyone knows anything better, I'd appreciate you sharing the wisdom. :D

I really only use one macro:

/cheer

The other stuff you mentioned can be done more effectively with mods. I use SelfCast with my paladin for healing. If another player is not targeted, or I have a mob, enemy, or nothing targeted, it casts whichever heal I choose on myself. Also works for bandages.

The newest version of Titan Panel has a Carrot on a Stick swap when you mount and the trinket does not need to be in a specific slot in your bag. When you dismount, the last trinket you had equipped will re-equip.

For weapon swaps, I keep my commonly used weapons in the action bar along the right of the screen. That way I can quickly swap from 2 handed, 1h and shield, or dual wield with the specific weapon combos I want. Again, I don't need to know where they are in my bags.

the heals - just like JR said - I use Telos' Selfcast

the mount trinket - just like JR said - The latest version of Titan Panel has this built in. It's automatic

for weapons - I use a plugin called WeaponSwap. It essentially adds a bit more functionality to the macro system. I still have to write the macro, but it's more robust. You can create one macro that will cycle through your various setups (sword/board, dual, 2-hander) or you can do what I did. I have one macro for each setup so I can get to exactly what I'm looking for in an instant. I created icons for them as well. So in my lower right hand side, there is a shield icon, a sword icon and a crossed swords icon. I press the shield, I equip a one hander and a shield, I press the crossed swords I equip my dual wield setup etc. I am going to add a second weapon to my shield setup so I can switch out one handers on the fly too.
JR's way will work too, expect that if you have two one-handed weapons, you can't designate one as main and one as off. They will both try to equip to your main hand.
and if you really want to get nuts you can get a plugin called StanceSets that will change out your weapons based on what stance your in. Enter Defensive stance and auto equip the shield, enter Beserk and auto equip dual etc... I find that a bit to limitting though.

regarding equipping two one-handed weapons, if you have a 2 hander or shield and 1 hander, the first one you click will go in your main, the second goes in your off-hand. I sometimes screw up and put my fiery enchant in my off hand. Once they're equipped you do have to go into the paper doll and swap them if you messed up, tho (or re-equip the shield, then main hand, then off-hand).

You know what... macros would probably be easier. :P

I have researched some of the macros you mentioned, Foe, but they all seemed so complicated that I could not get them right. Could you post what one looks like? (E.g. the one that equips the twohander) And where do the items you unequip go? First available bag slot?

What's Titan Panel?

2-hander
/script WeaponSwap ("Lord Alexander's Battle Axe","");
note the "" means nothing in offhand

dual wield
/script WeaponSwap ("Krol Blade", "Julie's Dagger");

sword&shield
/script WeaponSwap ("Krol Blade", "Rattlecage Buckler", "Julie's Dagger", "Rattlecage Buckler");
this one will toggle mainhand weapons while keeping the shield equiped

the unequiped weapon will for the most part end up where the newly equiped weapon was. I keep my shield and all three weapons in my 5th pack. I leave an empty space in the bag for juggle room and my weapons and shield always end up back in that pack

keep in mind that you must have the WeaponSwap (http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=110) mod in your addons folder for these scripts to work. my scripts rae for v24, but I imagine they would work with the newest version too

Thanks a lot, Foe! I'll play around with the stuff. I think, I donwloaded the WeaponSwap addon before, but then I coul dnot figure out how to write the actual macro. Thanks for posting the examples.

I would think that would be great for a 60, but I'd imagine at my level it would be a bit of a pain to have to rewrite the script each time I upgraded my weapons.

I use weaponswap and stancesets. Stancesets has a nifty little gui where you type in /stancesets and the gui pops up allowing you to drag the icon of the weapon to the different spots.

makes the upgrade of weapons and your swapping much easier.

Circuit, I've been using that weponswap dealie since about L30

You can go in and just highlight the old weapon and type in the new one. No need to rewrite the whole thing.

Inka, I dragged (drug?) my weapon icons onto my right side action bar. From there, I can swap them quick... maybe not macro quick, but I don't run the risk of hitting the wrong key on the keyboard. It works pretty well for swapping from my 2H to 1H & shield, and they swap as fast as I can click the icons.

That works well unless you're using dual wield. I ran into the problem with it putting my one-handed weapon in my main-hand.

Scripts are for the weak!

did you have a script write that for you?

To pick up on this old thread... Who mentioned benecast yesterday and how you get it to work properly? I keep deleting and reinstalling it, but the buttons next to my target still don't work. Only the ones next to myself or next to the members in my party. Which is fine in a 5-man but sucky in >5 raid.

Also, I always wondered why it often swaps heals or ranks of heals all on its own. E.g., a lot of times I find it to cast heal or lesser heal instead of greater heal alhtough the button is set to greater heal. Does it do that based on how much mana you have left? Or based on how much health people have lost?

BTW: The mana conserve feature of CTRaid is supposed to get disabled after the next patch. I guess, we'll have to make do with lower rank heals in the future. Yay, more cluttering up my interface! :spank:
