I can't tell the difference. I can see that they are different pictures, but neither has any relevance as to whether it means read or not.

Also, some of the icons have clean transparent edges, other look like the Jag City Symphony. :(

Any luck with a template? That might solve all our icon needs.

Ned, just read the QB post regarding templates.

I'll happily pay for one myself rather than rebuild all the icons. I don't think the basic design tools of vBulletin offer the sleekness of a solid design. Everything is colored css and not actual images.

I don't think the forum needs to be image heavy, but some images would be nice.

Maybe something like this:
http://www.templatefreak.com/vb_skins/browse/Hi-tech/262/
http://www.templatefreak.com/vb_skins/browse/Hi-tech/392/

Both come with the .psd files included for easy editing. It would be much faster than recreating all the buttons, plus it's a cleaner, more refined look than the default template.

I like the green themed one as opposed to the orange. :D

the colors and images are the things that I would change. The layout is what would remain. The green one I think would require more change. I don't lke the asterisks at all.

I don't think creating new icons would be that big a task, really. We'd just need an established set of colors first.
