Arthas > Gorgonnash

hese transfers will be available at the normal time, 3:00AM-3:00PM PST, until November 28 at 3:00PM.

Realm-to-realm character transfers are offered in order to alleviate queue times and overpopulation. If you're not satisfied with your realm's performance, moving to a realm with a lower population can make your play experience more enjoyable. Please plan accordingly and take advantage of this opportunity!

Are we considering a mass exodus?

I don't care one way or the other, but I have to know WAY ahead of time to warn any non-QB's that I would be moving.

oh I just posted it to open up a discussion about it. I haven't heard anything about us moving anywhere.

I have no intent to move, but I truly do hope some of the newbs to Arthas do. I was telling Heather the other night that I think high-pop servers should allow alts and invites only. It annoys me to no end that people can still make characters on a server that's already queued. The high pop servers are the ones with most appeal to farmers and gold sellers.

I know it will never happen, but I'd sure like if someone on Arthas had to vouche for you before you could make a character. That way friends could still join, but new people with no common link to Arthas would have to find a lower pop server.

I don't mind high pop, but I really fucking hate waiting in a 20 minute queue to play.

You hate Pretzel. :(

EDIT: how exactly would you vouch for someone who doesn't have a character on the server?

I can't hate someone I've never met (with the exception of Q and Tony Danza).

That's just my point, Ned. New people COULD NOT join Arthas. It wouldn't be available. If they wanted to get on, they would need an invitation from someone who already had a character on Arthas. It was just a pipe dream anyhow so I don't have the blueprints for my idea handy...

I'm just saying I hate the queue and allowing more people to join the server doesn't get us closer to a solution.

Last time they allowed transfers from Arthas to another server, the ranks of players thinned down quite a bit. Let's keep fingers crossed that it will happen again. And following JR's line of thinking... I think Blizz should allow for Arthas residents to name people they want to see transfered... like Zwiezero or Wortt :bg:

Are you actually suggesting a forced transfer of a character with enough sig's on a petition?

I may have a few names to nominate.

Hahaha, yeah that would work. I have some more names too...

Since this particular transfer opportunity ended on the 28th and I encountered my first long queue to get on Arthas yesterday (the 29th) I think everyone was thinking the same thing as jackrabbit - "I'm not moving but I'm counting on everyone else to."

I have nothing to keep me attached to a particular server and absolutely despise waiting in queues ("Oh hey, look, I can play any other game RIGHT NOW.") I will almost certainly be moving Pretzel to a different server at the first opportunity. Not wasting my time waiting to play trumps all. I'm just not that addicted to bend to the servers rather than vice-versa. :)

EDITED to not derail the actual point.

You can play CoH/CoV right now because half their player base left when WoW launched...:spank:

we'll thanks buddy, we love you to.

I hate queues as well. I just come down stairs about 10 minutes before I'm going to play and sign in. Then go back to putting Alyssa to bed or whatever.

Also when you start selling stuff in the AH you'll be glad you're on a heavily populated server.

While I said this mainly in jest, we all know how much you enjoy CoH, and that's great. Most of us hoped you would like WoW some so you could come and play with us and we could all have fun as a group. The game is much better with a group than without and several of us have made an effort to see that you get to play in a group of Martians even when you had early designs to try a different server.

I think it's great CoH/CoV don't have queues and likely never will, I just can't see how it's relevant to this context. We've all been dealing with these queues for months, and it's irking (for me, anyway) that you're discourteous about it after enduring a only few queues, and then bringing out the old Guild Wars... er, CoV/CoH card.

I'd love for you to stick around on Arthas. I hate the queues and the people responsible for them, but for me, the company is obviously worth it night after night. If you feel differently, I wish you the best on whichever server you decide on, though I'd argue you'll be bargaining for a much less enjoyable experience.

JR is sooo banned.

No, City of Heroes never had queues that I recall, but it did suffer from some lag issues and several of the servers were usually "high pop" red during the evenings, every evening. When WoW came out, the servers seem to top out at "Yellow" medium load and most stay green pretty much 24/7. While I'm sure they've lost some players through boredom and attrition, and picked up new ones, there was a huge across-the-board drop in server populations around the launch of the WoW open beta, and it hasn't climbed back near the population levels it had since.

I'm not dissing City of Heroes. I loved it. But like JR said, I play to be with my friends and my friends are all playing WoW on Arthas. I'll put up with queues for that privilage too. I've been looking forward to being able to group with you, but having just started my 4th character on Arthas a week before you started playing and, I decided not to start another new one and figured it wouldn't be very long before you caught up to my druid.

Well, CoH was just used because it's the other game I play right now. You can substitute Bejewelled 2 if you want, since there are no queues in that game, either. :P

In any case and as I said in IRC, I am not into PvP, loathed queues a year ago and yet I still made and levelled a character to 12 on Arthas. I'm just thinking out loud, maybe trying to see if others might want to make some alts on a lower pop server. It's not part of a massive hate campaign against the game or you guys.

You're all still banned forever, though!

"CoH/CoV card"? Please don't be silly, JR.

Pal, the population of CoH has remained relatively consistent since release. Surprisingly so, actually. It in no way dropped severely like you're saying when WoW came out. The servers that were popular remain popular. If WoW had any impact on the popularity of a completely different game, it was minimal at best and probably due completely to the "hey, a new game!" factor that happens with pretty much everything. I'm not sure what any of this has to do with the discussion, but I just thought I'd throw that out.

You need to get ganked, then get revenge on the ganker. Once you get the taste of blood you'll crave it from then on.

I have only suffered a single defeat in the PvP of a certain other game. I know the taste. It's one of the things that helped convince me to make Pretzel. :jester:

Off topic from the off topic, but I believe Final Fantasy XII had an item drop called a world pass. On dense servers it was the only way to invite new people. Might be annoying to farm for something like that if you had a large number of friends you wanted to join up.
