Is there anything more delicious or satisfying than a late night pancake, hot and smothered in butter and syrup? They rival pop tarts I believe.

Rival Pop-Tarts? Unpossible!
I would, however, never refuse pancakes, especially delicious blueberry pancakes.

I had the late-night burrito from my favorite Mexican restaurant. Since my wife didn't know if I wanted tomatilla or rojas sauce, she got both. I mixed them and it was awesome.
The only problem with eating a 1lb burrito right before bed is that it throws a wrench in the regularity works.
Pancakes are good, too.

Ahhh... but when you have the pancakes, you must have real maple syrup... yum...

I prefer waffles over pancakes. They're crispier and retail the butter and syrup better. In short, waffles pwn your pansy pancakes!

I'm with Circuit; I am a waffle guy. With strawberrys and whipped cream.
Or Pop-Tarts.

i agree about real maple syrup. the maple flavored corn syrup often marketed by rustic homes or matronly african american women is a poor immitation.
Why, i went my entire life thinking maple was a bad flavor. It wasn't untill my 23rd year that i discovered the taste of true maple syrup. Since then i've noticed a great many people have never experienced maple syrup.
Just the other day i was telling JR about my maple marinated salmon (odd somehow i'm posting about salmon again). He didn't think it would be good. I think he's just never indulged in 100% pure maple syrup.
Incidentally, the salmon was marinated in maple syrup and captain morgans. Then grilled, it's great.
Pop-Tarts are also great.

I don't understand this. I blame waffles.

I think "retail" = "retain"

The "l" and "n" keys are not next to each other, though. I think it's safe to assume that Circuit's brain is horribly broken.

Then he fits right in, don't he?

Well, I work in retail and I was at work when I posted. Also there were no waffles there so I was probably ultra sad. :(

Great thoughts everyone but as much as I love salmon and Pop Tarts I have to stick to my pancake guns. Circuit, thems fighting werds! Waffles I had forgotten about and I refer to them as Pancakes, Jr.
As for maple syrup, I can't say I've ever had real maple syrup. I have a recipe for making it and it calls for maple extract. Would this be similar or the "real thing"?
I'd also be interested in that marinated salmon recipe. Mmmm!

You should fix this immediately!!! Most supermarkets carry a jug of Vermont Maple Syrup. You will never go back to the flavored corn syrup, I promise you :)
real maple syrup is so much better than artificial maple syrup that it's amazing they sell both. Sadly, even this close to the source, the price difference is fairly steep. Worth it, tho.

Not true in Missouri. I could never find any real maple syrup, except in specialty stores.

I'll look around, but it may be hard to find. You lived in St. Louis, right Loggy? If it's not there then it'd be harder to find in Springfield. I'll keep my eyes open though.
It travels fairly well too:

I've never had Vermont Maple syrup, and I never miss a chance to toot my home state's horn... so here... Wisconsin Maple Syrup (http://www.wisconline.com/cgi-bin/aaw_catalog.pl?t=cat&cat=66).
I'm sure Vermont is better to syrup connosiuers, but this site's stuff is half the price and I've never had bad WI maple.
I'd like to make my own some day. A guy across the street from my buddy's house used to make it. He and his friends would sit around the vat all day on a Saturday stoking the fire and drinking beer. Not THAT'S a hobby I could get into.

On a trip to pick up stuff for a Thanksgiving potluck I went through the syrup aisle. Lo and behold, like a beacon shining brightly, I saw it there...

I'll be interested to see if you ever go back to a McGriddle sandwich now.
And remember... you have to open your throat, relax your jaw... and don't forget to cup the balls.

*grin* awesome! Make sure you chug some like in that picture, that's the way to do it!
