It's that time of the year again - speculate on Blizzard's next game. The Company That Can Do No Wrong has been striking gold for a decade now and with WoW, that gold has turned to Super Deluxe Goldy Gold. However, at some point they are bound to release a new game. Time to guess what it may be!

Here's a recap of their releases since 1994 (expansion packs not included):

1996 - Diablo
1998 - StarCraft
2000 - Diablo II
2002 - WarCraft III

Chris Hartgraves from WasteLandsGaming.com, former employee of Blizzard Entertainment, has sent us word that Diablo 3 will be aired at Blizzcon.

From what we've heard Diablo 3 is going to be an MMO, as massive as World of Warcraft, with the concept of Hell invading Heaven. One rumor going around with Diablo 3 is that there will be Guild Housing included. The game is said to be looking brilliant and will be showcased at Blizzcon as their big suprise.

Word also has it that Starcraft 2 is already in development for the PC.

Yeah, that whole Diablo 3/StarCraft 2 thing at Blizzcon turned out to be a big pile of nothing so a game based around Pop-Tarts does seem more likely at this point.

Aren't they still working on StarCraft: Ghost? It's only been 5 years, so going by their usual schedule it's almost due!

Ghost is, I believe, being done by a licensed 3rd pary developer.

According to the IGN article last week that revealed the details about the WoW: Burning Throne expansion, Blizzard has 2 in-house development departments (at least at their headquarters). One is the MMO group, currently working on WoW and the other is a RTS group working on something. About the only thing that can be reasonably inferred is that the title they are working on is a not Diablo 3... at least, not an hack n' slash RPG Diablo 3.

Now...

A RPG/RTS Diablo 3 where the player could be a champion of good/evil and control armies as Hell invades Heaven (a plot that was tossed around last week in the Blizzcon rumors as a Diablo-based MMORPG). Something that combines Diablo-type questing for individual hero development and Warcraft-style RTS army building and battles... that technically COULD fall under the RTS's development umbrella.
