Website hosting/domain name

Who is the best company to go with here? I want to make a website.

I used register.com to get the domain name. then I put up my own webserver to host the site. works for me anyway.

I used register.com for the Martian Cartel domain, have had no problems with them. Setup was very fast. For hosting, not sure who to recommend. There's a bunch of possibilities.

Log, I use Server Seed, run by TySoft from TW. Great service, no down time, plus there is a 20% coupon for putting in TW20 in the coupon code field.

as far as registering, I would strongly recommend NOT using anyone except Register.com. Everyone else is either second-tier or top-tier with lousy quality. As far as hosting, I haven't found the Golden Goose yet, but we've been having good luck with our current host, Surpass Hosting. Another good host is 1 and 1. I've had more bad luck than good with most hosts, and it would be easier for me to answer who NOT to use, but seriously, take my word on the Register.com thing. It will cost a bit more but will save you trouble down the line and give you more control, and as always, I'm more than willing to help you if I can.
