It's that time again when we forget last year's failures and look towards this year's eventual failures with naive hope. For 2008, my resolutions are:

1 - Get in better shape and lose at least 10 pounds, and keep it off. I'm at 187 and can barely string 3 sit-ups together. Four is out of the question. Jen and I got a Bowflex for Christmas and she's off to the races on it already. I haven't touched it except to put it together.

2 - Finish GTA:SA and at least 1 other old game from my library. A holdover from 2007 that didn't get done. I'm close on GTA:SA. Game #2 will likely be Starcraft. I've tried twice with it and gotten stopped by the last Terran mission both times (no real attempt at Zerg or Protoss yet).

3 - Attempt to learn the Hammer editor. No big predictions about making maps that are good enough to release, but with TF2 out now and Left4Dead coming next year, I'd like to be able to try mapping at least.

1. Lose some weight, specifically around ye olde gut. To help facilitate this, I am cutting out all junk food. I thought I could just cut down but nope, it has to be all or nothing, so nothing it is. Mmm, carrot sticks!

2. To continue and accelerate my writing. I made some progress in 2007 but not nearly enough. I am optimistic that 2008 will be better.

3. To complete one map in UT3. It's a tradition, I have to do this. CTF-Hallway3, here we come!

4. To be more patient, tolerant and all that good junk.

5. Other things I'm sure I'm forgetting.

1. Get in better shape. I'm at a perfect weight, I just need to tone.

2. Develop a better financial plan with wifey and stick to it. Maximize savings.

!. Clean my room.

2. Get fit and PADI certified (not in that order).

3. Quit booze.

4. Flesh out my escape plans for if/when America descends into Fascism.

I've lost some weight already in 2007, but although I don't consider it to be a "resolution" I want to continue the current trend.

In an effort to make sure the farmers have plenty of rain this year, I vow to plan Sheepshead card nights every two weeks.

I'd also like to avoid death if at all possible.

I got my PADI Open Water Certification last week. After 5 days of continuous dancing followed by 2 days of poolwork and scuba diving, my legs are in awesome shape too. (I managed to lose 10 pounds on the way too). Next up, upper body!
