View Full Version : It's my fantasy

Kermit

I realize that sports talk is generally "Dugg Down" here... but I'd just like to say that our fantasy football draft is in 4 days and it's a great excuse to get together with the boyz, drink, play cards and bullshit.

And if you are one of the people here that is in our league, your team sucks.

See you Saturday.

Fitty

fal, tai and I think a few others have fantasy football teams.

Tai
08-21-2007, 02:28 PM
*sigh* you bastards have a league and didn't tell me?

My draft is Sunday and I haven't even looked at the lists yet - see how easy it would be to beat me?

Snake

Get Marion Barber the 3rd, touchdown machine.

i'm in three leagues. i predict total disaster for all of them.

My husband's draft is the same day as our son's christening - somehow I was supposed to remember that's it's every Labor Day... Anyway, I have him until 2 ... & at least it's not at our house this year....

Kermit
08-21-2007, 06:58 PM
*sigh* you bastards have a league and didn't tell me?

There is no Bastard's league official or otherwise as far as I know, but that could always change...

Specifically, the league that I'm in (and was referring to) is made up of old high school and college buddies and we get together at our Alma mater to drink and play cards. Orion and Sperril are in it. I don't think any of the Cartel that live outside of Milwaukee would know any of the other guys.

Tai
08-21-2007, 08:11 PM
Is there interest in a Bastard League? I guess 8 would be the minimum although six might work for shits and giggles...?

Tick
08-22-2007, 08:53 AM
I'd do a Bastards league. I'm in a league with my brother and some friends, this is our 5th or 6th season, I forget...we're having our 3rd annual live draft Sunday, and this is our first year allowing keepers (you get to hold up to 3 players from your previous year, and sacrifice picks 1, 2, and 3 in order to keep them). I'm hoping to spend some time tonight getting myself ready for it.

Falhawk
08-22-2007, 08:58 AM
I'd play

Kermit

I'm not seeing anyone stepping forward to commish this thing. I can do it but I'll need some quick input. I know Yahoo used to have a free site.. does anyone have a preference for the site?

Otherwise I'll keep it simple. A very basic league, team D's, no keepers, no cash (pride in winning has to be enough). Here's a list of the interested:
-Falhawk
-Tick
-Tai
-Kermit
-Loggy?
-Snake?
-Fitty?
-Orion (he's on vacation but I can twist his arm, he'll say yes, but it will take some sort of farm machinery to fit around the forearm)

I'd say we'd need 6 minimum, 8-10 is prefered, and we need some sort of penalty for failing to update your roster. Maybe requiring the guilty party to take a picture of themselves eating a generic Pop-Tart?

We would also need to get our butts moving on a draft. The first games are only 2 weeks away.

i would like to do this, but i don't think i can manage yet another team. count me out this year, i think.

It's just for fun, but this is the open invite. Feel free to jump in (http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/league/TheMartians).

The password is "volleyball".

I'll give everyone till Monday to get all signed up. Then I'll have my co-worker/brother-in-law draw names out of a hat for draft order (it's fair because he really doesn't like me all that much) and we'll make a new thread here for draft picks.

Kermit
08-22-2007, 07:24 PM
Hmmm that's kind of crappy. Try this (http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/554421).

The league id should be 554421

Tai

I'm in. signed up as the waterboys. I'm still on vacation, but found a local bar with wifi. I'll be in Point for the draft this weekend and online some then, too.

Kermit
08-23-2007, 10:34 AM
I started a league on CBS's site just to reserve the name... we can argue later about which one to use.

Edit: The "Commissioner" (read pay) site looks pretty good, but the free one does not have much for changeable options.

live draft or auto draft?

Tai
08-23-2007, 01:17 PM
It says offline draft. I presume that is what the aforementioned "Draft Thread" implies.

Kermit
08-23-2007, 02:06 PM
Assuming we get 6-8 persons, I'll come in to work on Monday morning, put all the names in a hat and my brother-in-law will draw them out. If we have enough by Saturday, I'll put them all in a hat and have Sperril draw them out while Orion is standing by watching.

I'll start a new thread with the draft order and we'll each take turns posting our picks. I'll upload them all when we're done. Autodrafts suck. You might as well just have Ned pick a number between 1-8 and whoever gets the closest wins.

Tai
08-23-2007, 02:23 PM
nice tail you got there :) I take it you don't want to try to do the online live draft thing?

Kermit
08-23-2007, 08:40 PM
We can try, but it's going to be hard to find a time that everyone can get together for a couple hours straight.

Tai
08-23-2007, 08:42 PM
Quite true.

FoeKilla
08-23-2007, 10:58 PM
I'm in. And for the first time ever, FoeKilla was not available as a handle. I was completley stumped as to how to proceed... I'd like to assume it was me that registered it at some point, but none of my generic internet passwords managed to work:confused:

Kermit
08-24-2007, 09:38 AM
Do they have a password recovery system? Foe just wouldn't be Foe without the Killa.

Falhawk
08-24-2007, 09:47 AM
does yahoo support a multiple day draft? i know CBS has an option for it.

that way we could use the draft room to manage players etc

Tai
08-24-2007, 09:52 AM
I think it is hardcoded for 60 seconds between picks, I could be wrong.

Tai
08-26-2007, 07:28 AM
We had our live draft last night. It is hard coded for 90 seconds per pick. With 8 people in the league, and one person absent it took one hour and five minutes. We all had preranked our lists though, so in most cases it was a matter of comparing your list to who was left and choosing appropriately. And calling the other coaches names when they snagged your desired pick. =P

I think the chat window on their draft app is too small (of course), and it didn't seem to carry over my DB and DL rankings (we play with individual Defensive players), but other than that it went quite well. :)

Tai
08-26-2007, 02:09 PM
Looks like we have 6 at the moment. I would think Postal and Q would be signed up too, but it looks like they are scared. ;)

Tick
08-26-2007, 04:28 PM
Q only plays fantasy hockey, he doesn't follow football at all, iirc.

Q
08-26-2007, 10:19 PM
Tick is correct. Let me know when you guys start a hockey league :p.

Tai
08-27-2007, 08:26 AM
Is everyone aboard who is coming aboard? :)

Falhawk
08-27-2007, 08:33 AM
a 6 man league is a tad small

we're all going to have powerhouse teams

Tai
08-27-2007, 08:56 AM
Well, maybe Loggy will decide he can shoulder a 4th team, and we can twist Postal or Snake or someone to sign up....

Kermit
08-27-2007, 11:29 AM
What do you guys think... Should we wait and try for two more, or have the Uber League of 6 superstar teams?

Tai
08-27-2007, 11:33 AM
We can't wait long, especially if we are doing the offline draft thing stretching out over days. I would prefer 8 players, but will smash along with 6 if that's what we've got.

Falhawk
08-27-2007, 11:34 AM
i'm cool with whatever

Tai
08-28-2007, 09:11 AM
Okay, I'm good with your post Kermit (scoring and lineup). Someone wake up Foe and get this thing rolling :)

Tick
08-28-2007, 10:10 AM
I'm going to work in less than an hour so I don't think drafting will be very active for me today...hopefully we can get most of it done tomorrow.

Tai
08-30-2007, 06:09 PM
I see Foe, Orion and myself are around, but I think Tick is at work again.

Orion
08-30-2007, 06:29 PM
Dammit tick, get your priorities straight!

Falhawk
08-31-2007, 11:07 AM
I wonder if we'll have the draft finished by the first game.

Kermit
08-31-2007, 11:25 AM
If not we can come up with a draft time in the evening to do it live and finish it up.

FoeKilla
09-03-2007, 06:03 PM
tell me if I understand this correctly.

after the "starters" are fleshed out, we have 6 more rounds to fill up the bench?

If I got it right, we may want consider cutting that to 3 rounds of double picks in the interest of saving some time. If each bench spot gets its own round we're only half way there...

Kermit
09-03-2007, 07:27 PM
That might work.

Otherwise, we shouldn't actually need the bench in the first week. Nobody is on byes, and all the preseason games are over, so nobody should be getting hurt.

The first game of the season is this Thursday right?

Kermit
09-03-2007, 07:31 PM
Also, just for the record, you do not have to fill up your starters on the first 9 rounds of the draft. You can double, or even triple up on one position and save your last pick for a single kicker or defence or whatever.

Point being... Can we finish this thing out on Wed night or should we start doing doubles or just ride it out?

Tai
09-03-2007, 08:33 PM
If we are going to push it I need a headsup, I might not be near a computer wed night.

Falhawk
09-04-2007, 03:31 AM
i can do either tonight (tuesday) or tomorrow night (wednesday)

Tai
09-04-2007, 07:06 AM
After sleeping on it, I for one would prefer to just ride it out since we will have our starting lines pretty much set.

Falhawk
09-04-2007, 07:11 AM
I'm ok with that too as long as we have our starters drafted. There's only one game on thursday and we should have the backups done by sunday

Kermit
09-04-2007, 11:36 AM
My vote counts for 2 (since I said so) which means the motion carries 4-0-3 (three absentees).

I'll get everyone's drafts-to-date entered in on Thursday and you will be on your own to set your lineup by Thursday night (especially for any of your starters that are playing that night). The rest of your slots will be listed as "empty" and everyone will be responsible for logging in and picking up your pick as a "free agent" after you have posted his name in the official draft thread.

FoeKilla
09-05-2007, 08:30 PM
I vote double picks which would mean that Fal is free to steal Orion's last pick as his second.

I am voting this way only becuae I want to thwart Orion*

* not really**

** ok, really

Tai
09-06-2007, 07:45 AM
I really do not want to do the double pick thing. it completely screws people over.

Kermit
09-06-2007, 09:02 AM
Official-type vote posting:

puddle pirates (Foe) --- 2 picks
Makin Bacon (Kermit) --- 1 pick
Cosmic Hippos (Tai) --- 1 pick
The Spooners (Tick) --- ?????
Waterboys (Orion) --- 1 pick
Cobra Kai (Falhawk) --- 1 pick

The current tally is 4-1-1 in favor of single picks.

Post your vote (or change of vote) and do so quickly please.... Tie breaker will be solved by arm-wrestling. (or a coin toss)

Orion
09-06-2007, 10:46 AM

Tick
09-06-2007, 11:53 AM

Falhawk
09-06-2007, 12:02 PM

whatever everyone decides (although I'll have to drop my last pick)

Tai
09-06-2007, 12:11 PM
Go drop your last pick, looks like the voting is done. :)

Tai
09-08-2007, 09:11 AM
Is everyone picking up their own picks or do you want me to enter them so as not to screw up the waiver order? Vote in the other thread.

I picked up Driver yesterday and it went through today. I figured you had already done enough and it was easier to see available players. I don't care though and will bow to the majority.

FoeKilla
09-08-2007, 09:18 AM
call me stupid, but I couldn't figure out how to pick up new players:(

Kermit
09-08-2007, 09:32 AM
Stupid*

Click on the "players" tab and then click the green "+" sign next to any available player to add him to her roster.

*I don't really think you are stupid, but I will bow to peer pressure if you tell me to call you just about anything.

Hope you're okay :)

Kermit
09-08-2007, 09:14 PM
I just double checked and I cannot add players to your draft any longer. I'm not sure if it is because the first game already took place or if it's because I started the draft and then "ended" it.

In either case, you are all on your own. Add your picks and edit your lineups... we are less than T-12 hours from kickoff.

Someone call orion so Foe can depart with a calm mind. :)

Is anyone else using that StatTracker thing? It's a pretty nifty app. I am watching the Patriots kick some booty (in addition to being a Massachusetts boy (old man?) I have 5 of their players plus their D among my two teams :) ).

Tai
09-09-2007, 01:43 PM
Hey, Foe, do you want to send someone your ranking list so that we can make sure you get your preferred choices?

my wish list for my remaining picks...

I'd like a defense, 2 wide receivers, and 1 running back, in that order

all picks in order of preference:
DEF: Jacksonville
DEF: Pittsburg
DEF: Carolina

WR: Andre Johnson
WR: Chris Chambers
WR: Randy Moss
WR: Laveranues Coles
WR: Deion Branch

RB: Ahman Green
RB: Caddilac Williams
RB: Marion Barber III
RB: Jamal Lewis
RB: DeAngelo Williams
