IGN posted a preview from Quakecon of Left4Dead, and the one downer in it is the studio giving a release date of 2008. Hopefully we'll at least get a demo or beta this year. :(

Shacknews (http://www.shacknews.com/featuredarticle.x?id=745) has a nice article up today where two of their editors got a hands on preview of the game at Valve.
I think this is probably the #1 game I'm looking forward to in 2008. I'm hoping for some fun co-op goodness with my fellow Martians like in the old Ghost Recon days.

I wish all previews were as well-written. This game sounds awesome.
I'm going to play this game with you guys and will scream like a little girl.

how's that different from other games?
I don't scream when playing Peggle.

CS-Nation Preview-Part 1 (http://www.csnation.net/articles.php/article_240/)
CS-Nation has part 1 of their 2 part preview up. Part 1 is 5 pages of general description of the game in it's current build and some gameplay thoughts. Part 2 will be the hands-on writeup of where 2 of the CS-Nation guys got some seat time playing survivors.

I am too. I'm just worried too many MC'ers will opt for the Xbox 360 version.

if the PC version will be steam, I don't think I'd get the 360 version.
I'll be getting the PC version and will be playing this to death.

Honestly I would rather play it on the 360 because I dont think the controls are an issue at all. But as you can see by this thread (http://www.shacknews.com/laryn.x?id=16042737) it's pretty easy to see which way the majority leans. So if you only care about running through it by yourself the console versions will be fine. If you want co-op action then the PC is the choice.

i have high hopes of this game being a great lan game. I can see it now, everyone comes over with their laptops. We sit around my backyard lit by the erie glow of tiki torches and cold lcd light fighting hordes of zombies.
i love it!
except my brother probably wont get it, and jr doesn't have a good laptop.
i suppose there's always the version of my dream where i sit in jr's basement bathed in the glow of tiki torches and lcd screens and wonder just what's behind that spooky door in the corner.
Did I mention the game/LAN room at the aquiring company actually does have a dungeon paint scheme, flickering torches and a big rotating turret in the middle?
I'm hoping there are many user created mods, gametypes, etc. for the PC version. Does it use the HL2 engine? If so, I would think Valve would support user created content and judging by the number of mods for HL2, L4D could be the next big game in terms of a modding community.

It is a Source engine game and will have full editor/mod support, although not necessarily right at launch (like TF2).
That's awesome news Pal. Can't wait!
Ned, any chance of making a L4DMP_BOX map? :D

For those who don't see the big link in Steam, Gametap's preview: I'm starting to think Valve should rename this "Oh S---: The Game" (http://www.gametap.com/articles/gamepreviews/left_4_dead_pc_xbox_360-05132008)
