Smackdown 185: Capture the Frag
Date: Sunday, July 15th
Time: 6 p.m. PDT, 8 p.m. Central, 9 p.m. EDT
Game: Quake 4 demo
Gametype: Capture the Flag or DM
Map: Speed Trap (CTF) or Over the Edge (DM)

Well, the Q4 demo worked and we still have two more whole maps to play! That was enough to keep people playing the Tribes demo for years. :P

This time we will be playing CTF on the map Speed Trap, provided we have an even number of players. If not, we will do DM on the other non-team map Over the Edge.

Hope to see youse there.

Worked for *most* people. :P

Sorry, I can't guarantee 100% success with everything we play for everyone 100% of the time.

No worries, I didn't expect you to. I just hadn't heard the blue screen of death described that way recently. ;)

After an extended warmup on Verticon, we did one round of CTF. Unfortunately Orion got disconnected several times, so the round was declared null and void. We switched to straight DM once again on Over the Edge. By some strange fluke I won!

Thanks to everyone for playing. We've played all the Q4 demo maps so look for something different next time.

Ned pretty much won all the way through that game. He pulled ahead early and stayed there. While everyone else was busy running away from Sam's grenades that were somehow bouncing into every room, Ned was casually racking up kills.

I don't know if it has anything to do with running the linux client, or my internet connection, or maybe that my computer is 5 years old, but it just seemed like i was always a second behind everything in the game.

Also i was running the linux client. so 8 small points for me, 8 small points for linux gaming.

I give you 30 ubuntu points. Doubt they are worth anything, but you can pretend you tied with Ned. ;)

I never noticed the tabs in the summary until shadowrat pointed them out. Statistics shows your kills/deaths (mine was 41/25 if I remember right) as well as your accuracy with each weapon and any "special" achievements. I had one multikill and one humiliation kill. My accuracy with the railgun was 0 because I forgot where it was until shadowrat started shooting at me from where it spawns. I never did click on the Scoreboard tab. Anyone know what that one shows that makes it different from Summary?

And yeah, at the five minute warning I saw I had a 10 point lead and I was thinking I'd have to screw up pretty badly to lose. I fully expected to start launching rockets into my face but for a change, it never happened. Hooray! :jester:
