I propose that we who have the Xbox 360 version of Burnout: Revenge gather to play some nutty ol' multiplayer.
If you wish to partake, sign-on here. Date to be determined! (I need time to practice.)

I'll be happy to rent it if we get a date. It will be nice to play a game where I INTENTIONALLY crash.

I dont think Silver allows you to actually play online. I think it's basically for downloading stuff and sending messages. At least thats what it used to be and it may have changed and you will indeed be able to join our merry gang of automotive delinquents.

yeah looks like it hasnt changed. Online play isnt listed as a feature of the silver level here. (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/memberships/?WT.svl=nav) :(

I saw you on for a while than off for a while all last night, Postal. I figured you were just fickle.
Also, there's a new Burnout (http://www.ea.com/burnout/paradise/) due for the 360.
Creole Ned
06-07-2007, 09:33 AM
There's always a new Burnout due. It's the Madden of racing games. Or is that NFS? Or both, actually. Any timeframe on the new Burnout? I've actually been cagey and managed to avoid paying full price on all my 360 games so far.
Also, are Sam and I the only ones who *haven't* had a 360 fail? Yeesh.
I propose we try some Revenge next week. Toss in here for the best days.

1/08!
Mine is still functional, but of course it only has two days of playing on it. I don't have burnout, but I will maybe rent it or something also. I want to multiplay Forza of course...
Speaking of crashes (http://dailycarvideos.com/2007/06/10/f1-montreal-kubica-crash/).

I'm going to suggest we give this a try tomorrow (Tuesday), say around 6 p.m. PDT/8 p.m. Central/9 p.m. EDT. If that day is no good, please suggest another.
I will not have the game by then, but don't let me hold you back. I am still very keen on advancing my career in Forza 2.
Creole Ned
06-11-2007, 10:23 AM
I suggested Tuesday thinking that if no one can make it, that still gives us the rest of the week to try again.
I've played enough to unlock 11 (of a million lol??) cars and 8% of the total game. My rank is something like "Granny watch out!"

Assuming enough of us still have functioning 360s by this evening (it's looking 50-50 at this point :P), who all can connect to Vent for voice comm while using the 360 vs. using the Xbox headset? I ask because I can do both but prefer Vent because I ain't got no fancy speakers for sound otherwise.
jackrabbit
06-12-2007, 01:22 PM
My 360 is plugged into the TV at the moment to facilitate Forzing. I'd prefer not to move it to the PC only to move it back later. In that respect, I vote Xbox Live comms.
Creole Ned

I will attempt to get my old Cambridge Soundworks PC speakers hooked up when I get home tonight so I can get the vroom vroom and also the dulcet tones of jackrabbit's voice wafting through the 360 headset.

They are saying now that Microsoft is upgrading the broken 360s with a new heat sink. I'm glad they are at least trying to fix it. I think I am going to buy one of the 360 fans though.

Well, I'm at the beach right now, and my XBox360 just suffered the red rings of death while playing a game of MLB2K7. Looks like I'll have to wait until I get home next Friday to take it back (I got an extended warranty through Target, so I'll just take it directly back to them).

I suggest 6 p.m. Pacific/8 p.m. Central/9 p.m. Eastern. Yes?
Also indicate if you can use Vent with your 360 or only the Live headset.
I can use either but no game sound with the Live headset (no speakers on my PC, which my 360's sound is routed through.)
Postal
07-16-2007, 11:23 AM
9 EST is fine. I can use either live or vent.
I could use vent as a listen only, I can't reach the ALT key without taking a hand off the steering wheel....
Also, I don't own Burnout:Revenge yet. Just thought I'd say hi anyway. =/
jackrabbit
07-16-2007, 03:48 PM
Tuesday! (Vent is easier. I'll figure something out if we use Live, though. I can probably have audio come through speakers and hang the headset on my neck.)

07-16-2007, 05:19 PM
Oi, bad news. The game was in at the rental place and the disc is amazingly unscratched, but this is one of those games that causes my 360 to lock up almost immediately. The furthest I've managed to get is the loading screen of the first race. Normally it locks up at the title screen. Sorry again. :(
I picked it up on the way home - hopefully it won't act like jr's....

I cant use Vent as my PC is upstairs and my xbox is downstairs :(
Isn't this the one where you can only race cars you've unlocked in Multiplayer mode? Or did they change that for the 360 release? I will only have the beginner cars tonight obviously...

I don't think that even matters, actually. Ned hosted our last game and we seemed to have access to pretty much everything.
Dg3Nr8
07-17-2007, 09:43 AM
ok cool, maybe its Burnout 3 that worked that way. Or maybe it wasnt a Burnout game at all.
Creole Ned
07-17-2007, 10:40 AM
Yeah, everything seems to be available in multiplayer. I only have about 11% of the game finished and it let me choose all kinds of nutty vehicles I haven't unlocked yet.
As for Vent/Live voice, is there a way to pipe in voice chat from Live through your regular system sound? If so I could use that to get Live voice piped through my PC headset.
Dg3Nr8
07-17-2007, 10:43 AM
I dont understand your weird Canuckian set up
Creole Ned
07-17-2007, 10:49 AM
My 360 is connected to my PC monitor and the sound is routed through the sound card port on my PC. My PC has no speakers, only a headset. So I can either get full sound and voice using Vent or voice but no sound by using the Xbox headset (since wearing two headsets at once would prove a bit awkward).
I generally prefer Vent because a) it sound better and b) it never cuts out. But I *might* be able to get my old PC speakers hooked up if I can dig everything out.
If you connect the out of the live headset to the second line in on your sound card, you should be able to. I'm assuming I can get both vent and the xbox to come out of my pc speakers, but like I said, pressing the push to talk button will be sporadic. (Probably good, as you won't hear me shout "You Fucker" when you run me into a wall)
Creole Ned
07-17-2007, 11:56 AM
I thought the headset still plugs into the controller? (I actually haven't taken mine out of the orange baggie).
It does, but it is still a regular jack as far as I can tell. I would think you could get a male to male cable and route it into your sound card.
jackrabbit
07-17-2007, 12:20 PM
It's not a regular jack. It's like the mini cell-phone headset+mic jack. :(
As far as good news, you can go into your voice chat settings by hitting the Xbox button in-game and set chat to route through your speakers instead of the headset. You'd still need to use the Xbox mic around your neck, but it works.
Creole Ned
07-17-2007, 06:37 PM
Okay, here's the plan. I'm going to try hosting (seemed to work well in testing). About four of us will be on Vent. I'll be able to hear people talking over Live but will obviously not be able to have them hear me, alas.
Dg3Nr8
07-17-2007, 08:56 PM
sorry I didnt hang around any longer. It was just kind of silly once Tai left and I didnt have anybody to talk to. :/
Creole Ned
07-17-2007, 09:14 PM
Aw. :(
The rest of us were on Vent. You and Tai were kind of quiet. I like Vent because it doesn't shut off between games and sounds way better. But if you can't get Vent to work because your PC is elsewhere, I can probably dig out those old PC speakers and use my Xbox headset. :)
The games were fun when everyone managed to connect!
Circuit
07-17-2007, 09:28 PM
Yes, lots of fun. My apologies for yelling and swearing. :o
Using both was easier than I expected once I knew I could route XBox Live through the speakers :) Good fun. It might be possible that this game is actually harder to play with a steering wheel. I certainly need to find some way to tune it. Also, it is very hard to hold down the boost button while turning the wheel. Did I mention I had lots of fun?
Circuit
07-18-2007, 09:49 PM
Oh, I would almost certainly say it's harder with the wheel. It's not exactly a sim if you didn't notice. :)
