Hello.
We have in the past used both Deathball and Chaos for Smackdowns. The former is a sport-flavored variant of Bombing Run while the latter adds a bunch of over the top weapons and gadgets to the standard game. One or both of these may be used in the future so I recommend grabbing the latest version of each. Deathball is the likeliest to be used first.

Deathball description (http://deathball.net/about.php)
Chaos UT2 Evolution (http://chaotic.beyondunreal.com/c2_download.php?view=cut2) Two files - 294 MB and an 18 MB patch
Input/comments welcome.

Using wacky weapons and whatnot in Chaos is fun. I hesitate to say that I really hate Deathball, though.
I enjoyed Deathball quite a bit, although it's very difficult to get the hang of.
Is there an Excessive Overkill for UT2004?

Yes. (http://excessiveoverkill.com/)

I'm pretty sure we played that before.
I knew we played Excessive Overkill, I just couldn't remember which UT it was.

Original UT.
We did play the UT2003 version but never in an SD if I remember correctly.
This will apply to the other skins too, but Deathball uses its own set of directories for skins and voice packs, so you will need to unzip the martian skin pack to the deathball directory unless you want to see me running around as a green square. Same with Tick and Circuit's...
Also, that was kind of neat last night, but I need to figure out that vacuum mode (shift was making me crouch).
Arm, install this thing and get it running BEFORE the smackdown, you'll never manage it at the last minute.

I was going to run some Deathball this weekend for the Sd warm-up but I'm not sure I can get the webadmin working for it by then so I'll postpone that for a week. We may still give it a spin (!) if enough grab it before Sunday.
Regular SD announcement will be posted shortly.

Please to be downloading Chaos (as linked in the first post). This week's SD will be announced tomorrow and will be using Chaos. I will be running a Chaos test Friday evening so swing by if you want to get a hands-on preview with other human-type people.
I hope to participate in this Sunday's Smackdown. :D

That would be awesome, we miss you :) Well, I do as a suitable counterballance to Q and Circuit and Ned (when he plays - rare)
Would we be playing with ONLY the Chaos weapons, or with both sets? Also, I really need to figure out how to remap my keys, I tried changing my vent key, but I still press ALT out of habit, which results in me getting dragged across the space to whatever my grappling hook launched into. (Reminds me a lot of that scene in the Tick vs Arthur's Bank Account with the super hero grappling hook....)
I need to re-figure out how to play. :/
That's what I am doing, except without the "re" part. We played for a little bit last night, but I still don't understand the gravity belt nor the vortex launcher (does the vortex launcher disappear after like 10 seconds or something? I kept losing mine).

Also see the above ^ :)

I never had the vortex launcher disappear on me, but it only has one shot in it. It normally spawns on a map in place of the "superweapon" (redeemer, ion painter).
We will be using Chaos weapons only. Mixing in all the regular UT2004 weapons just makes it a bit too overwhelming. I hope to get a good look at the maps and gametypes tonight and choose something decent for the SD. I am leaning toward KOTH (King of the Hill) but it will also depend on the quality of the maps.
The install does come with a decent HTML help file that outlines the weapons and the ammo types. Binding Chaos-appropriate keys will be *very* important. Ones to look for:
- grapple
- gravity belt
- special ammo mode (the exact name escapes me)
- kick
Following the heartbeat for the kill is fun, I must admit.
Yeah, I read through the weapons part of the readme, was very helpful and explained a bunch. I am going to have to find out why I can't change the keybinds. I thought of something on the drive in this morning that might explain it - I might have my backspace key mapped to send something else via the G15 from when I was messing around with setting up Fraps.
If that's not the case, then hopefully I can find the keybinds in a file somewhere and edit it manually.
I found you can modify your key mappings in the file UT2K4Mod.ini in the ChaosUT2 folder.
