Can anyone confirm this (http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?id=10760041)? I was on last night and this is the first I've heard of it.
Heres the skinny: Blizzard adds in a new instance, Zul'Gurub. Inside is the god of blood, Hakkar. Well, when you fight him he has a debuff called Corrputed Blood. It does like 250-350 damage to palyers and affects nearby players. The amazing thing is SOME PLAYERS have brought this disease (and it is a disease) back to the towns, outside of the instance. It starts spreading amongst the genral population including npcs, who can out generate the damage. Some servers have gotten so bad that you can't go into the major cities without getting the plague (and anyone less than like level 50 nearly immediately die).
GM's even tried quarantining players in certain areas, but the players kept escaping the quarentine and infect other players.
By accident or intentionally... either way it's an interesting social experiment.
They should all be chopped up and put in the organ banks!

It would appear to be true. There was a hotfix (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general&t=4929988&p=1&tmp=1#post4929988) rolled in, but it appears it may not have worked. :(
I can confirm this, as there are already videos circling the WoW community of the devastation created in Ironforge and other major cities which I have seen. It works just like the bomb from Baron Geddon, a hunter who has an infected pet will dismiss it while it is infected and then call out the pet once back in IF or wherever. I just don't understand how Blizz didn't see this one coming.

Couple items from me on this one.
-- after seeing how many people don't actually post anything but the words "1st page!!!!!!!1" or even worse "2nd page!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1" I can see why everyone here hates the WoW forums.
-- With the size of a MMRPG like WoW... not only can I see how they wouldn't see this one coming, I'm surprised that stuff like this doesn't happen MORE often.
--It is sad to see people so hungry for a world event, that what is essentially a bug gets everyone more pumped than anything in the 1.7 patch. Funny as hell if you're above 50th level, but sad overall.
-- For anyone unfamiliar with the game but lurking here, or for the lowbies like me who want to see what's going on without risking visiting a major town, here is one of many vids currently circulating the web. The Plague (http://media.putfile.com/Theplague94)

I had no clue this was going on, but I actually think it very funny. Fighting mobs (other than the ones in MC and ZG) and doing the same quests over and over has made things rather predictable. (And getting jumped by a rogue is not really new either despite it being usually unexpected.) So having a major plague going around definitely adds new entertainment value. A pity I can't watch the movies here at work. Now I have to wait until I get home. Grrr!
Ok, ok, I'll leave my lowbies offline for a while, but I'll definitely walk around with my 50+ chars. Can a priest actually cure that desease? Maybe I'll acquire holy saviour status with the town of IF and get some free purples. ;)

I heard a rumor of groups of Pali's rounding each other up for "cleansing runs" but that was rumor only. If it is true, I imagine it would work for Priests as well.
Without any first hand experience on the topic, I'm just spreading rumors though.
Hrm, sounds like this might be a fun time to log Tai in and charge for cures. I could make a guild called Big Pharmacy or somesuch ;)
