Smackdown 169: Jailhouse rock
Date: Sunday, March 4th
Time: 7 p.m. PDT, 9 p.m. Central, 10 p.m. EDT
Game: UT2004
Gametype: Jailbreak
Mutator: BonusCombos, Pinata2k4
Map: JB-NoSense

Time for some wholesome Jailbreak goodness. This will be a team game, of course, so Q will have to wait a bit to try for the threepeat.

If you haven't downloaded Jailbreak, you can grab it here (http://jailbreak.beyondunreal.com/download/jb2004-mod/).

If you get the umod version, you must change the version number in your manifest.ini file found in the UT2004/System folder. The MegaPack incorrectly changes the version number to 1. Changing it to the current version, 3369, will allow umods to install properly.

Look for:

Version=1

And change it to:

Version=3369

 Awesome. A mod that requires actual teamwork :)

I downloaded all of the patches, mods, and packs this morning, and will be installing everything tonight.

I hope to attend this smackdown.

wooot, the SD's are back in strength! I will be testing the martian voice pack tonight and will tweak it if it is too annoying, and then will host it for full distribution :) So far he cracks me up just running around. =P

Just a wee reminder, the server does not push custom skins or models to those connecting. However, if you install the same custom skins/models as other players, you will see them properly. I'd recommend downloading and installing Tai's Martian model (see the "UT Skins" thread) and the custom skins for Circuit, Sam and Tick, all found on the MC Downloads page.

Easy Link (http://www.againsttheherd.com/images/ut/martian_ut2k4.zip) for mine. :) Just unzip to UT2004 folder with directories. I promise to go easy on the taunts =D

Got it installed. I guess there are some additional keybinds that have to be set for JB?

Tai

I don't think so. GREY STAR is asterix on the numpad

Creole Ned

No, those keybinds are optional. You won't need or use them in a multiplayer game.

That was a blast. I will continue to attend!

Like I said last night, I'm not bad at these kinds of games, but I really shine in the more tactical FPS games like Raven Shield and the like. I'm going to be grabbing Athena Sword soon, so it'd rock if we could give that a shot soon. Or maybe even do a server test during the week. :)

Excellent excellent fun. Amazingly tight games. Wonderful turnout too

I love the downward progression of my scores. :) I was doing the opposite of Q, started strong, and then went downhill. But, I did start out by getting two kills on Circuit though, which made my night - everything else was just gravy ;)

PS. Patton+, I will install Raven Shield and Athena this week.

I'd be willing to set up an RS server this week. I'd recommend grabbing a few of the community map packs. I don't think they're linked in the stickied SD thread, but I'll hunt around for them. The quality varies (hello Sniper River!) but a number of them are excellent.

I'll also post a few screenshots from the SD and update the stats later today.

i don't have RS, but no worries. i'm going to Vermont (hello New Englanders) this weekend for skiing anyway.

RS during the week, not going to commit that colorfully eccentric game to an SD just yet.

i'll see if i can get my athena sword ordered

any chance i could convince one of you vets to write up a quick how-to on what to install in what order

i installed raven shield, but i'm afraid of patching just yet

Install in this order:

Raven Shield
Athena Sword
Iron Wrath

And while co-op Raven Shield is much fun, I've always hated the adversarial modes.

In theory the game's auto-updater should take care of any patching for you. I can't say for certain because my install dates from when the game was new, the auto-updater wasn't in yet and every patch was incremental (you had to patch all of them in order, never a "one size fits all" patch) except for some which weren't and the whole process drove me crazy and I vowed to never uninstall the game ever.

But as Q said, install the expansions in order and you should have minimal patching and heartache.
