I have downloaded but not yet installed this. I'll post my thoughts after having done so.

I played the original Age of Empires pretty hardcore™ way back when - it's where my Interweb name comes from, actually (I needed one to play AoE on the Internet Gaming Zone). I have fallen seriously out of the RTS groove the last few years, though (barely touched Age of Mythology after picking it up). I think all of the micromanagement finally got to me.

On that happy note, off to install. :)

it's funny that you say your handle came from AoE.

the first internet cafe I ever went to had a small LAN setup with AoE on it. Eradicator (Harkonen to you WoW folks) wanted to show me the game and the cafe. I asked "will we be friend or foe in this game?" He replied "foe". When we joined the game he was greeted by "FoeKilla has joined the game" and my name was born.



on a less happy note, I have tried to install this demo 4 times, from 3 different downloads from 2 different places and it just won't take. "data1.cab mayt be corrupt..." everytime

in a nutshell, my frist impression is not a good one.

Being a big fan of AoE, I was pretty excited when I heard about this demo being released. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones as it worked just fine for me. My first impression is that I'm really enjoying the demo... lots of nice additions, graphics/animations, ambiance and the home city idea is very cool.

Plus, it's somehow hilarious when the villagers get hit with artillery fire. :o

Dang it this only works on Windows XP. Hope the finial can handle Win2K.

Well, that may be partially because it wasn't very good. There are very few games that I have installed but only played a couple of times, and this was one of them.

Hopefully AoE3 will have elephants in it!
