I was still hoping for advice for a good Warlock build, since I generally don't really know what I'm doing. I'm considering:
Demon Spec like Whoa. (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/bc-warlock/talents.html?0500000000000000000002350030103250100 521300055000000000000000000)
or
Destruction with some Demon Spec. (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/bc-warlock/talents.html?0500000000000000000002050030113000000 000000055000512200500501000)
The only issue I have with Demon spec is I feel sometimes my DPS abilities are lacking, especially when I come up low on damage meters. However, I love having all the perks of master summoner, and soul link, etc. Quite a few times while PvPing, to my foe's horror I've bubbled using a VW, then instantly summon another for no mana. Also, for PvEing, having the VW take 30% of my damage is awesome, cause I am squishy.
Too many choices. Also, anyone like Affliction? When I first started the game, a friend told me Affliction was the way to go, but I can't remember why.
Edit: My current build is Mostly Demon. (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=NV0bZfxhzgxotZxx0z)
I was hoping we'd get some lock feedback too. I want to respec mine from her current 5/5/30 (http://wow.allakhazam.com/profile.html?876743) build as I messed up a little. (see single point in Destruction/Cataclysm). The 40th point which is not shown on allakhazam is in Destruction/Intensity, +35% chance to resist interuption for 3 of my spells.
Are the 5 points I have in demonolgy (+15% to stam, -5% spirit) better spent in the destruction tree? My gear is mostly +stamina.
In regards to your demon spec above Jolissa, I would put the first 5 destruction points in improved shadow bolt instead of the 5% reduction in mana cost. (do you run out of mana?)

I am CONSTANTLY running out of mana. I use lifetap a lot, but even so, those shadowbolts just drain it away. Maybe I'm doing something stupid strategy-wise, but in a raid or whatever I am forever needing more mana.
As for switching stuff out of Demon spec, as you can see, I'm a Demonolgy junkie. I think you should switch more in! :bg:
Affliction seems to be the dot the enemy to death tree, the demonology is pet them to death, and destruction is blast them to death with spells. That's my read on it.
I haven't raided with my lock (come to think of it, I've been soloing too much too), but in normal PvE play I can kill 3, sometimes 4, mobs with my mana pool (around 3100 sp). Most commonly, it goes, 0, 9, 4, 3, 6/3, 2, which is corruption, agony, immolate, shadow bolt, wand or bolt again, and the purple mind flay spell that gives you a soul shard (forgot the name, *blush*). Recently I have sometimes tried starting with a Soul Fire, but that often switches aggro to me.

the first thing I do when PvP'ing a warlock is banish their pet. that still leaves you 7 other classes to demolish though :bg:

I personally don't care where i come up on the damage meters. My current feelings are that i add more to group damage through prudent curses than i can do myself spamming shadowbolts. And the more health i have through the demon tree, the less the priest has to waste mana healing me.
I can't remember my placements off the top of my head, but i have nothing in destruction, enough in affliction to get amplify curse, and the rest in demonology.
I have an affinity for the demon tree because the pets seem to offer alot of fill in the gaps options. my vw is a nice offtank, my felhunter can silence and devour magic. i dislike the imp because you don't have to make decisions with im, and i'm glad the rest of the universe realized that locks can offer more than just a health bonus.
I do wish i had more opportunity to use the big guys though. the infernal can't be summoned in most instances, and people usually down stuff too fast for a doomguard to show up from curse of doom, or they don't want to participate in ritual of doom.
The one time i did get a doomguard to show in an instance, it rocked big time.

I remember that! That was fun! :)

Jolissa, you realize that you can use the talents beyond 31 don't you?
This will me my build next tuesday (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/bc-warlock/talents.html?0502200000000000000002050030133250102 501351000000000000000000000) and as of now this will likely be my planned 70 build (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/bc-warlock/talents.html?0500200000000000000002050030133250103 501351055000010000000000000).
you don't go in for the stacking shadow bolt damage?

I run out of mana more often then I get to take advantage of extra oomph
I currently have the 20% boost after a crit talent, but I'm gonna dump it in favor of reduced mana costs come tuesday
you run out of mana even with your 8k hp? Do you think it is worth stocking up on a little +int gear as opposed to the +sta gear? I had not planned on trying to get the 5% reduction in mana costs, but if both you and Jolissa are complaining about running out at 60, maybe I need to rethink my approach.

when I say oom, I'm not taking into account lifetap.
but what I'm getting at is that I can either cast x number of spells, and then lifetap or I can cast x+1 and then lifetap. That extra spell due to reduced mana cost will more often get me more overall dps than a shadow vulnerablility that makes me stop what I was doing to spam shadowbolt so I can take advantage of it.
I dont usually spam shadowbolts, so the proc from that talent takes me out of my game plan to try and get that extra damage. I'd rather just have my mana last longer.
I have no math, no anectodal evidence, no nothing to support my conclusions. It's just what I'm gong to do.
If your a destruction lock, using your succubus, then I think the shadow vuln talent makes more sense.

I was thinking about getting the felguard. He seems kickass. I still have a little time before the patch comes out to think about it.
I hardly play my lock but I'm a huge affliction whore. If I get him up there I'd probably go with this
