Listening to the bunny makes me yearn to do something new to my old bat.
I've completely fallen off the loop on vid cards....what would be a great card ($400 or less) and a good card ($200 or less)?
I really really like my nVidia 6800 GT - it cost me just under $400 back in December, so should be cheaper now.

I got a 6800 GT last month for around 240 or so, and that was the 256 meg card.

$379.00
Well, both look great, but I'm not sure if I should plop down the extra 100 clams for the better card. Do you guys think its that much better?
And is this gonna do me any good with a 1.7 ghz machine?
Also, I know I'm gonna get a gig of ram, so that may be a factor.
Thanks for the input, Martians.
I wouldn't bother with the more expensive one - it seems to me the CPU speed will be your limiting factor between the two, and that the 6800 should be able to run anything the CPU can.
Having said that, you might want to factor in your favorite games present and upcoming, in case they require some serious muscle. My thoughts are that having 2 gigs of RAM is an excellent move - spend the extra $100 on memory.

I'd say if you can afford the latest and greatest, get it. The 7800 is pretty much next gen hardware, so it should last you at least a few weeks.
