Just wanted to say that that was really fun last night and that I hope to do it again soon!! With luck, I shall make it on around 10.30 EST tonight :) Let's show those humans a thing or two!

The Outcasts shall forever fear all Martians. The two that are left, I mean. We certainly look dang cute all scampering across a zone together.

I think we played Fri, Sat (maybe Sunday) nights and a little bit yesterday evening. We do look good running together, I shall have to upload some screenshots :)

Don't forget to poke fun at the fat martian ;)

I think you're confusing "fat" with "can beat you up". :)

Have to catch me first! I'll run through a narrow alley and lose ya! :bg:

I'm generally only playing Foom when all or most of the Martians are on. I'm happy to switch over when I'm not playing with Tomato "Croatoa tourist" Paste or Johnny "sewer urchin" Saturn.

Ned, if you see me on and want to martian up give me a holler and I will switch over unless knee deep in bad guys at the moment.

It's beginning to look like I will get to stay home tomorrow. In which case I forsee myself playing some games...

As mentioned in IRC, Foom was jettisoned into space. Being the resilient type, he came back but with strange new powers! OOOOO! (to quote the Fir Bolg)

Thus endeth my attempt at roleplaying.

I wasn't sure how I liked the sonic/energy combo and it's been awhile since I made a fresh-baked defender, so I remade Foom as a trick arrow/archery defender, to join the other five billion archers in the game. So far I like both sets. The little "thwick" when you hit the enemy is strangely satisfying. Trick arrow has some debuffs that will complement the Martians nicely, I think. Flash arrow blinds (lowers accuracy) which will probably be a big plus early on.

Foom 2 is currently level 8 (the original got to 9) so he's ready to mix and mingle with the other Martians anytime. Shall we pencil in an evening when the gang can get together?

My father-in-law is in town this weekend - I'm not sure when I'll be able to get away, but if I can it will most likely be late (after 10pm eastern) on Friday or Sat.

Foom now requires help. Apart from having to deal with kill-stealers every time he sets foot in Kings Row (I blame the 14 day account holders), he has three missions, none of which are particularly viable solo:

• Defeat 10 Circle of Thorns in Perez Park
• Defeat 10 Skulls in Perez Park
• Defeat jewel thief and crew (recover the jewel of Hara) in The Hollows

The Hollows mission is 1.5 miles from the Atlas Park gate. Graar.

He's still level 8 but has three defense powers that can help the group out. I'll be on here and there over the weekend (except for some time playing the super-secret beta no one can talk about).

I can help ya out some provided im on. I will be away to help find bugs in an unmentioned beta from 7-9 EST. muhahahahaaa

I'm itching to deliver justice, Martian-style. I will probably Foom it up a bit tonight (Monday).

Also, thanks to Tai who helped me fix a weird glitch with the chat windows last night and prevented complete madness from setting in.

You haven't made it through the incubation period yet... beware those crazy infections.

I'm not sure if I'll be around tonmight, but if so, I can probably get up to the jewel thief mission pretty quickly, I think I only have the kill 10 trolls mission that precedes it. Should I try and get resurection before level 10 or can we hold out that long?

It's a matter of preference, really. On the defenders I've played that have a rez, I've usually gotten all the other powers I've wanted first.

Here comes Barsoomian!! I'm ready to save the world!

I am thinking it's time for the Martians to band together again. I'm free whenevah.

When is the next Martian Invasion?

I been playing some on Pinnacle but have yet to see folks on in there matian Persona.

Also been over in WoW some recently.

I'm still on nearly every day but Foom is exclusively for when the Martians play, so he's been sitting at 10 for weeks. I'm happy to team up with him whenevah, but it seems most people have moved on to other less alien pastures.

Also, I'm finding the TA/Archery defender to be underwhelming, so I may remake Foom, anyway. Won't take long to get him back up to 10, though.

Harka

Yea, I messed around with a TA/archer, TA/Energy defender and found, even the limited amount of time I spent playing them, that other than some nice crowd control they dont have much else in their bag of tricks. Is that what you have found?

Anyway, Guava sits at either 10 or 11 and awaits the next gathering as well.

Creole Ned
10-04-2005, 11:54 AM
The archery set is not bad, although it sucks endurance like mad. The biggest problem I found with TA is that none of the debuffs (and the whole set is debuffs) are very strong. The ice arrow holds an enemy long enough to save you one attack - if it hits. Then it has a huge recharge time.

Trying to solo Foom at level 10 is painful. A Council lt and minion at even level will eat me alive. I don't want to be eaten!

Having said that, I'll probably give Foom one more chance before I remake him as something else.

Update: I've remade Foom for a third time, this incarnation as a peacebringer.

I had to disband the Martian Cartel SG but will remake it and re-invite when Foom hits 10 again (he's currently 7). BTW, if you start a new character and want to zip past the early levels, join a sewer team. These have been getting more popular lately and I went from level 3 to 6 in the space of maybe half an hour or so. We had six people - three defenders, a controller, a tanker, a blaster and me and we plowed through mobs - even though we were fighting Vahzilok. At one point we faced three Eidolons and a White Dwarf (Nictus boss that showed up because of me) all standing together. We got through with zero defeats.

It was fun. :bg:

Foom version 3.0 is now level 10 and will re-invite Martians as they appear online.

We're all in range for the Positron TF now, right? We should do that one of these days.

Creole Ned

I would maybe recommend travel powers first, but that shouldn't take more than one or two more Frostfires. :p

Circuit

Yeah, that would probably be better.

Harka
10-08-2005, 10:03 AM
So I should spend my next two power acquisitions on getting a travel power eh?

I took the fitness power pool so I am looking at at least 4 levels before I can get a Travel power but I guess you cant get one till 14 is it anyway?

Creole Ned
10-08-2005, 10:56 AM
Yeah, earliest you can get a travel power is 14. It's not too bad if someone has recall friend. Unfortunately, as a peacebringer Foom does not have access to the teleport pool. I think it's more important to be 14 than to actually have the travel power for the TF, though, since the enemies come in at a fixed level.

Tai

I took teleport with Barsoomian. I can try and arrange a time to play if you want to schedule this well in advance.

Creole Ned
10-11-2005, 11:07 AM
How much in advance?

Foom is 11 now, so it'd take a wee bit to get to 14. Also be aware that the TF is a commitment of about 2-4 hours depending on how efficient the group is (although it can be split up into multiple sessions).

This week is shot for me, and I am flying up to Boston for this coming weekend. I believe I have the next weekend completely open though...
