View Full Version : Issue 5: Forest of Dread is live, everybody hand jive

Issue 5 is now live, along with the very long list of changes. I'm not going to post pages of text over multiple posts, you can see the full list here (http://www.cityofheroes.com/news/updates.html). Basic DOOOM summary is "OMG EVERYTHING NERFED!!!11", the PC summary is more like "Game rebalanced to present a better challenge at the higher levels".

Quick overview:
• new zone, Croatoa - level 25-35: spooky new monsters and more
• new powersets: sonic blast, sonic resonance, archery and trick arrow (that sound you hear is a thousand Legolas clones hitting the servers)
• global reduction in player defenses and damage resistance
• accuracy of bosses and lt's reduced
• XP for levels 25+ increased
• no debt until level 10
• half debt in all missions
• controller/tanker limits in place to reduce perma-holds and mass herding
• Big Blue Hand™ added to UI over objections from players. Kill Big Blue Hand™ RARR!
• many reworked missions that include waves of enemies attacking, hostage escorts, buildings on fire and super-powered Troll raves
• and as they say, so much more!

I shall be making my little Martian fellow today on Triumph. All servers are up save for Victory which is expected to be up shortly.

One other thing I forgot to mention: Tomorrow (September 1st) all characters will be getting a free respec - it will overwrite any current free respec. This means you can create a new character today and have a free respec for it added tomorrow. All characters will also be given one free costume change at Icon.

I'll hopefully be going home soon as my back limits the amount of work I can get done to pretty much zero. I'll remake Joey Two-Scoops so he's not ripping his jacket every time he dances. :o

Okay, I have made Foom, a sonic/energy blaster. He is parked in Outbreak on Triumph at the moment. Not sure if I've settled on the look/AT yet but I figured I'd slap him on in case I likes him.

I can't find my CoH play disk, go figure. (I need to reinstall at home, I only have CoH here at work at the moment) I like your Foom Manchu mustache :)

I got my client up to date at work (yay for productive afternoons!). I have created an emp/rad defender on Triumph, he is sitting in the tutorial entrance.

I created a Fire/Ice Blaster named Guava. I forgot the antenna but I guess he cuold have singed those off at an early age. :thumbup:

Im not sophisticated enough to post a picture.

Grrr! They got rid of the normal suit jacket top. The only option now is the one in the "jackets" category that clips all over the place. I really wish they'd get a handle on these multi-layered clothing pieces. :mad: I guess I'll have to come up with a different idea for my Martian guy.

The Martian Archer has been created. No fancy pic, tho. He's up to level 3 already, I might play him a bit more later tonight.

I recreated Guava last night and added the antenna. Or is it that martians regenerate lost appendages..... the mystery of it all!

I'll probably be on around 9 p.m Eastern (beta testing super-sekrit game until then). :o

EDIT: Or maybe technical issues will come up but I never said that.
