I was looking at gear in the auction house just for kicks, and I noticed theres like 4 different types of gear.

I figure I'll be different and be a healing priest.

What do you mean by 4 different types of gear?

P.S. I think you're insane for levelling a priest instead of a paladin or druid.

I've been happy with the priest so far.

As far as the gear goes, theres like 3 or 4 different kinds of cloth sets.

I still have no idea what you're talking about. What kinds?

well now my lazy ass has to look it up.

Give us some examples of the choices that you are confilicted with. My healing gear is all +(xx) to healing, but you may want to look for something that increases stats as well.

Just for the record, Bridude is an awesome healer. The other night we accidentally agro'ed and took on like 6 raptors at once in Un'Goro. By some act of God I maintained *most* of the agro and he not only kept us both alive, but I didn't even have to use any of my pali spells that shield or heal. We might have been able to take on one or two more and still survived.

I will gladly group with you anytime.

In terms of Tier 0 gear:

Dreadmist is for Warlocks, but Shadow Priests sometimes wear it.

Magister's is for Mages, Priests rarely wear it, unless they can't find better and no Mages need it.

Devout is the Priest set.

devout, dreadmist, and I can't rememeber the other one.

Q

Devout also sucks pretty hard - you're better off building a set out of various pieces from different instances.

The dread mist stuff seems ok

The set gives these bonuses as more pieces are worn:
2: +200 Armor.
4: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 23.
6: When struck in combat has a chance of causing the attacker to flee in terror for 2 seconds.
8: +8 All Resistances.

Hrm, you might want to jump on that Sunken Temple expedition as their healer. The Hakkar Avatar has a decent staff (and a rare epic cloth chestpiece), and the Prophet guy has some decent armors with about a 1 in 4 drop rate. There's a decent helmet as the quest reward for the God Hakkar that has some stamina and like +18 int and spirit. Also make sure you get the spirit beads (priest quest/blood of morphaz)

Maraudon might be a little low for you now, but there are a couple of items in there that might be better than your current stuff - the Princess has a +10 sta, int +6 spi necklace that drops aobut 1 in 8. Rotgrip has a 1/4 chance of dropping shoulders that are +17 int, +11 spirit.

If you can handle BRD, Roccor has a 1/5 chance to drop the Mantle of Lost Hope (I use this as my healing shoulders). Fineous Darkvire has a 1/5 to drop some really nice healer pants (+8 sta, +7 int, +18 spi, +40 to healing spells).

Do you have a list of what you have now, so that I can concentrate on particular upgrades? :)

Devout Gear

2: +200 Armor.
4: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 23.
6: When struck in combat has a chance of shielding the wearer in a protective shield which will absorb 350 damage.
8: +8 All Resistances.

Example:

Mooncloth Robe (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=35727) which can be easily made from a common tailoring pattern

vs

Devout Robe (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=21249) which drops off of General Drak in UBRS.

This is a common theme with the priest gear - the Devout set generally isn't worth the trouble because you can find equivalent or better gear that's easier to obtain.

I would not bother with the devout or dreadmist set at all. You are MUCH better off with selected gear than either of those crappy sets.

By easily, he means 60 gold for mooncloth, and 25 to 40g for the two gold pearls.

The quest reward for Maraudon's Corruption of Earth and Seed is a staff with +8 mana/5 sec, and +5 hp/5sec.

I have some mooncloth that I can sell you rather than put on the AH. I was saving it for Heather though, so will have to check whether she still needs it or not.

Which is a hell of a lot easier than running UBRS until you get lucky enough for Drak to drop the Devout Robe.

Tai

definately. And it's better than the Devout Robe too. I was just pointing out he was going to need a little bit of money :)

I'm trying to get the Dreadmist set, so far I have 2 - bracers and belt. It seems the bracers, belt, and gloves drop the most.

I want to do runs on the instances that drop the tier 0 sets, so anyone let me know if you're going as well

Patton

the bracers belt and gloves are all BoE

the other parts are bind on pickup

thats why you don't see the other set pieces in the AH

hrm, I can wear the boots now and pants at 53.

That Mooncloth stuff will probably last until you start getting gear from the level 60 instances (DM, Strat, Scholo, BRS).

yeah, I love that place. It also has loot lists for the high end raids (MC, AQ, etc)

Devout used to totally suck, that's true. They changed it to more of a healer set in one of the patches, but it's probably still not worth the effort. Agree with Q on that.

Great pants drop off the summoned elementals in Silithus. They are called something with Abyssal in the name... forgot the exact name. Abyssal Cloth Pants of Healing maybe? I think Fitty has them. I think they are BOE, so you may find them in the AH (not cheap though). Other good healing pants come from DM (Padre's Trousers, Skyshroud Leggings etc). For feet, the Dragonrider Boots are nice. (I think Rend in UBRS drops them.)

If you have the patience to grind rep with Cenarion Circle, you can get some nice purple bracers and off-hand healing orb in Cenarion Hold. (Doing the quests there also gains a lot of money as far as I recall.) Similarly, with patience you could get some nice purple stuff from the guys at Light's Hope Chapel.

Q

Abyssal Cloth Pants of Restoration. Gundar has them, they're pretty sweet.

Skyshroud Leggings (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=10547) are from LBRS.
