View Full Version : Cancelled
Sorry guys, I can only take so much fighting in the same office buildings and sewers. I hadn't felt any desire to play the game for the past couple of weeks, so I decided to cancel for now. I'm sure I'll return at some point.

I'm asking for interest on the infamy I transferred over to Slim Tim.
My account is still active for a little bit longer, so I can give that back to you before my account goes inactive.

No, I'd rather you keep it and I'll just be bitter.
Do you enjoy being bitter?

No, but I enjoy employing sarcasm.
Do you enjoy taking everything literally? :P
(Hint: Carl has close to 4 million infamy, I'm not hurting for it. :))
Sorry, apparently my sarcasm detector is not functioning properly (it is Monday).

The Halloween event starts on Wednesday. If your account is still active then we should at least go trick or treating.
My account is active until 10/26.
What happens with trick or treating in CoV?

You go door to door around the zones and when you click on them you either get a treat (inspiration, temp power, salvage) or a trick (a bunch of Halloween baddies come out to molest you). This year they also added special salvage you can turn in for a bonus costume slot.
Some of the Halloweenish giant monsters will be roaming the streets, too.

So I guess that answers the question "I wonder if Q is still going to do the respec trial?".

Stupid fucking tree.

This sounds fun, I will be up for it.

Oh city of heroes...why can't I have your combat with WoW's instances and mob variety :(

If WoW was about superheroes and had the combat CoH had, it would be the only game I played forever.

After, uh, 54 months or something and being the last person here with an active account (unless Harka still has one), I have finally cancelled. I still enjoy playing but not so much solo. Been there, done that. The free expansions are nice but the release of them has really slowed up while the devs focus on new systems.
The exit survey lists a bunch of MMOs you can check for "having played" or "playing now". The non-MMO Battlefield 2 is also bizarrely on the list.
Here is what I wrote in the little text box thinger:
I have certainly gotten my money's worth from the game, having played uninterrupted since beta in April 2004. However, the long time between expansions and the focus on systems rather than content (new ways to do things vs. new things to do) has left me increasingly uninterested in the same old thing time and again. I'd happily pay for an expansion that added tons of new content or that added new mission types and made better use of zones for missions. The game just feels very stale now, content-wise. New systems are good but not enough, not for me, anyway.

That's pretty much exactly how I've felt for a while. I still enjoy playing and the combat is still the best out of every MMO out there by a LOT, but without new things to actually do, the combat can only carry it so far. If WoW had the amount of content CoH/V does, I doubt I'd have played it for more than a few months.

Alas I had to cancel mine recently as I was the victim of a Reduction in Force and now spend my days cleaning up the resume to send out and working on learning a new programming language and its framework called Ruby and Rails.
I still enjoyed the time spent in CoH as it was easy to jump in, kill some things and leave with a sense of accomplishment.
