Much of the fanfare for this game died down long ago, so when I realized it comes out on the 17th, I was a bit shocked.
So, a POLL to honor the event!
I'll probably get it, though with GoW and WoW:BC on the horizon, this would be the game that gets bumped from the "Must Buy!" list first. I'll probably pick it up for the 360 unless the rumors of Coop Only on PC are true.

There is no "I might buy it later" option. I demand poll modification.
Also, I predict this Splinter Cell game is the one that will be Ubified.

"My option does not appear" is tantamount to treason.
Pop-Tart should always be a valid option.
I predict that Ned's prediction will be spot-on. I predict that I will weep tears of dismay for the end of all things I enjoyed from the "Tom Clancy" licensing factory.

I'm choosing the pop tart option, even though I really don't like pop tarts.
I can't afford another game besides WoW:BC at the moment, I don't own a 360, and I am not about to install another Splinter Cell game on my PC that will just load a bunch of Ring 0 Ass Fuckification software, and suck.

It won't have StarForce. Ubi has stopped using that, at least.

After failing to get very far in Chaos Theory single player and the very minimal amount of team play we ended up doing online, I just can't see myself picking this one up. I enjoyed what I played of Chaos Theory, but co-op needed more maps and tended to be fairly lopsided in favor of the agents.
Besides, Battlefield 2142 also comes out on the 17th, and I will be picking that up for sure.

Have you been following BF 2142? If you haven't already, grab the demo and read some of the reviews by the mainstram BF crowd. Everything I have read about it has been fairly clear cut as the type of game Dice has produced.

I hate to say it (being a huge BF2 player), but I'm not so sure about picking up BF2142.
It just feels very sterile in the demo... so I'm going to wait to read a few reviews once it comes out.... hopefully they just picked a bad map to release as the demo, but there's something about it that feels severely lacking... i just can't put my finger on it.

If they were to re-release Chaos Theory without Starforce, I'd buy it and play with you guys online.
I mean, the game was so good that I could almost excuse the raping of my PC by that awful software. I just don't want to reinstall it and deal with it if we'll never play it. :(

Pogo and I would occasionally get together and play Chaos Theory coop, but even after overcoming the StarForce problem, we still had to log into the horribly devised Ubi.com online system. It's really frustrating when you have an otherwise great game that's marred by lousy online matching, stupid long startup and load times, and random disconnects.
I'm very afraid that Ned will be right, and this will be another franchise that Ubi whores out and ruins. Next up: Splinter Cell:Paris Nights!

JR, everything I've read has been that it is more like a BF2 mod than a new game. Not bad, not great, just fair. That said, it will have a revamped server browser and a friends list, both major plusses for online gaming, and it's a moderately futuristic setting...which wins out over a modern setting for me every time. Plus, I actually liked BF2. Not as much as 1942, but it was ok. The main thing I dislike is the unlockable system, which forces people to play a ton to get competative weapons to keep up with everyone else, and I already pay $14.99 a month for one gear grind, thank you very much. :)
I tried to play the beta but could never get an account created. When I tried using my BF2 account, it wouldn't accept my password. When I tried to create a new account, even using complete random gibberish for a username, it always said the name was taken. I know, that doesn't sound very promising as far as the final game is concerned, but I'm still willing to chalk that up to beta difficulties and the fact it was always prime time when I'd try to create an account/log in.
Personally, I wish they'd scrap the unlock system completely, and go back to the quick, arcade-y shooter style of the original game for their inspiration. But, they are instituting a rest xp type system so occassional players will be able to keep up better with the all-day, everyday players.
And actually JR, the next one will be Splinter Cell: Double Chaos Latte where Sam has to recover coffee from various locations around the world. Naturally, they'll all be grind quests. And it will use Starbucks copy protection, which is just as annoying as Starforce, but costs three times as much and replaces all the unique copy protection schemes your other games use with it's own brand of chain copy protection.
